Key competencies developed in this unit are word processing skills using computer software and the professional development of workplace reports. They engage with methods of researching, analysing, organising and presenting information. Students create, save, format, edit and print simple documents. Students gain skills in relevant occupation health and safety practices, using manuals and on-line help and managing electronic files.

This unit on managing spreadsheets provides students with skills in the use of the Excel application software to create and format worksheets, use formulas and charts. While the focus is on process rather than production, students are required to apply their skills to produce Excel generated documents that are relevant to their workplace activities.
